GarageBand: No input/low volume on 2017 MacBook 12-inch

2017 MacBook 12" OS X 13.7.8 & GarageBand 10.4.11 using a Behringer UMC1820 to record doesn't show activity on screen for any channel and volume playback is super low. Tried new cables, deleted and reinstalled GarageBand and still same. Tried downloading GarageBand 10.4.14 on my 2019 MacBook Pro 16" OS X 26.5.1 and all cables and Behringer perform 100% without issues. I didn't change any settings in GarageBand and it worked without issues.

Why can't I get this to work on my MacBook? Using the MacBook Pro isn't an option (work computer and only used to test hardware and cables).
