MacBook Pro fails to reconnect to eero Pro a second time.
Q: Why does my Macbook Pro fail to connect with eero Pro a second time?
A: I resolved this myself.
I'm using a Macbook Pro 2019 with eero Pro wireless mesh. I was able to connect once and never again. I resolved this issue myself.
- eero requires Private Network be Off in order to use a cached MAC and switch routers withing the mesh. Complicating things is once one logs into eero the first time there is no way to forget the device or change the MAC. The first time connection requires changing -> WiFi settings -> (...) menu and change Private network to Off. This is the only way eero Pro will work.
- If, like me, you logged in with Private set to the default Fixed then the laptop will always fail to connect after the first time.
- The work around is to turn on "Guest Network" on the eero pro. Logging into eero Pro using the Guest Network does not remember or detect the device. Once the "Guest Network" is on I was able to repeatedly log in, again with "Private" turned Off.
- According to eero's web site the mesh will forget a device after a few days if it never logs in. So, after a few days, log into the eero device configured network, remembering this time to set Private to Off.
Cheers!
