M1 Air "Out of Range" with Optoma Ep910 projector

Urgent: Can a 2006 Optoma Ep910 projector work with a 2020 Air (M1, 26.6)?

I can physically connect from the Air's USB-C ports, via normally-good dongles or adapters or cables, to the projector's VGA-in, RCA, perhaps S-video, or DVI (there is no HDMI input). But regardless, option-SystemSettings/Display's Detect Display button doesn't detect a display, and the projector reports Out of Range (rather than No Signal when there's no input) when I feed it a Keynote deck, full-screen. The projector manual's compatibilities show only two resolutions compatible with the Air (1600x1200 and 800x600), but they still don't work, perhaps because I don't see a way to force compatible frequencies from the Air. Is there a solution, please, in time for a memorial service on Saturday?
