garageband on an outdated Mac

I recently got my friends old Mac mini (late 2014) running Monterey version 12.7.6 . I intend to use it for a home studio for my band. however it doesn't have garage band installed and when I try to download it from the App Store it says I need OS 15 or later. what can I do to get GarageBand? Thanks in advance.

In general, you can't get older versions of GB unless you previously downloaded it.

Had your friend ever downloaded it? If so, he should be able to log in with his apple ID and download the proper version.
