Complete saving files from ghost folders?
Hi Guys, I’ve got some ghost folders on an external drive on my MacBook, it’s not offering me “complete copying” or “save the files “ options so I can’t locate the original files. I have tried using Terminal…
rsync -avoid —append <Volumes/drive> —/Volumes/drive 1/ destination/
Ive tried varying options but no luck. Can anyone please help?

'Ghost folders' usually result from interrupted file transfers, and in many cases that means the files are not recoverable because they were never on the drive. Note that when you initiate a file/folder copy, macOS creates 'placeholders' for the files/folders then fills them with the data. If you cancel the copy process, macOS removes those placeholders but if the copy is interrupted externally (e.g., by the drive being disconnected), then the placeholders may remain.
Use Disk Utility to inspect and repair the drive.
