Adding devices to Home app with multiple Hue bridges
Hi there! I’ve been using the hue bridge for over 13 years now. I rarely use the hue app, truth is in the last couple
Of years I haven’t used it more than just a few times and just to add new devices. What I use on a daily basis is the home kit app. Now, according to the hue app my bridge has 46 lights and smart plugs, 12 switches and 4 sensors connected.
My homekit app says I have a total of 62 devices connected to the hue bridge. But that’s not accurate since I have 5 cameras and many other sensors, locks and lights that some how don’t show on either app and many of those are not connected via matter… anyway. I’m planning to buy another hue bridge (normal or pro, haven’t decided yet) and have them both in the same home both in the hue and homekit apps. Migrating the bridge is not an option, since if I had to add all the devices to the homekit app and all the automations and etc one by one I think I’d prefer to kill myself. Hahaha. The question is: once I have both bridges in the same home and I install new devices. Does the home app automatically add the new device to the either one of the two bridges automatically? I’m guessing to the bridge that has less devices? Or does it ask me first to which bridge I want to add the device to? I’m asking all this because I plan to add more sensors and bulbs and a few more cameras. Hope you can help me, because since I have so many stuff on my bridge from so many brands this is getting so very complicated by the day.
Thanks for your help!!! And keep up the good work!
