Having taught both Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering for 32 years, I find it very frustrating that Apple has such poor engineers working for them that they would've located that button in such a useless location to the point where everyday folks like yourself and myself have to come up with "workaround's for something like a properly located power button. 🤦♂️🤯
My workaround is to have the Mac-mini sitting on its side which automatically puts the power button which is still on the back corner edge right where my wife's thumb will lineup if she sets her hand on the upper edge. 😉
I was initially concerned about whether that could cause functionality issues but these current Mac-mini's are all "solid state" which to a regular person simply means they don't have the old-school moving parts associated with the versions where they had CD and DVD drives that had to be properly balanced because they were spinning all the time. 🤔
That's one reason that Sony PlayStation's (at least starting for sure by PS4 & PS5) and maybe already with the PS3 have been able to be in their normal resting configuration of "top side up" or you could turn them onto their sides to have a much smaller desktop footprint near your TV screen.👏
I've said it before and I'll say it again… There is no such thing in the real world as "Apple Intelligence".
The engineering of this power button on Mac mini's is one example…
And if you want a better one have you ever tried using apples "speech to text" feature on your iPhone? It's trash.
It has literally gotten worse in the last six years to where it can't even differentiate basic grammatical issues such as when it's appropriate to interpret the spoken word as "HOUR" versus the spoken word "OUR".🤦♂️
It has no intelligence whatsoever ... Just like the engineering team that designed the power button location on the current Mac mini. 🤪😔
it will be interesting to see if my comment will get censored by Apple.
It's also frustrating in the year 2026 that the "Apple community" has to solve and find workarounds for all the engineering errors that Apple is too lazy to anticipate and to fix on their own. 😮💨
