How to remove floating overlays from websites on iPad?

How do I remove floating overlays from my iPad? There seems to be words with a clear background floating over the page that I want. Every time I try to hit something under it, it directs me to what is on the overlay so I have no access to what is underneath it. This overlay relates to the site that I am on but leaves me a total lack of access to what I need. I have been told that it is because I’m using an iPad instead of a desktop, and that there is a way to do it, but I don’t know what that is.

iPad Air, iPadOS 18
