iOS 26.6 Bluetooth issue with Hume Band and Scale — Band no longer connects

Since upgrading to iOS 26.6, Bluetooth connectivity with my Hume Band and Hume Scale has stopped working correctly.

I’ve followed all the recommended troubleshooting steps, including resetting the network settings on my iPhone 17. After doing this, I was able to get the Hume Scale working again, but the Hume Band will no longer connect at all.

The Hume support/community posts I’ve found indicate that others are experiencing similar problems following iOS updates and point to an iOS Bluetooth/connectivity issue.

This is unfortunately becoming very frustrating. MyFitnessPal also stopped reporting data into Apple Health back in March, and I’ve gone through all the recommended troubleshooting steps for that issue as well without resolving it.

I’ve now turned off automatic iOS updates again. I accidentally had automatic updates turned off for about four years, and during that time I had a nice four-year break from this kind of update-related madness.

Has anyone found a solution for reconnecting a Hume Band after the iOS 26.6 update, beyond the standard Bluetooth/network reset troubleshooting steps?

Apple doesn't own Hume or any of their products. If you are having connectivity issues with just their products, the issue logically calls on Hume to resolve. You need to contact them for direct help.

If by chance you have a VPN installed on your iPhone, get rid of it. Unless required by a school or employer, they don't provide the security people have been led to believe, but they do cause all sorts of connectivity issues. Remove the VPN at Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, then remove any associate app and the restart your iPhone.

Saying it’s not Apple’s fault when the only thing that’s changed is iOS is illogical at best.

I have no less than 9 Bluetooth devices connected to my iPhone and iPad, both on 26.6. If you add in security cameras, Alexa devices etc., it's closer to 22 devices. None of them are having any connection issues. But several of them released a software update immediately after the iOS update was released, so they might have certainly had an issue if I didn't stay on top of making sure the devices were also updated. What did any of the manufacturers of the Bluetooth devices suggest you do? It's truly up to them to ensure their devices perform correctly when iOS updates are released. And Apple sends EVERY manufacturer or app developer the API (Application Protocol Interface) in advance of iOS updates to make sure the manufacturers have plenty of time to update their device software.

So no, it's not illogical at all as you seem to think.

I’m not sure why some people seem dead set against there being an issue with 26.6. I’ve had connectivity issues with my AIRPODS PRO (both 1 and 2), and no amount of forgetting and reconnecting, resetting settings, or anything else suggested has solved the problem. There is clearly an issue at least for some users with iOS 26.6. If that’s not you, good for you, but don’t deny the experience other people are reporting — it’s just rude.

I understand that Apple doesn’t own Hume or its products. That isn’t the point of my post.

The Hume Band and Hume Scale were both working normally before iOS 26.6 was installed. The only change was the iOS 26.6 update, after which both devices stopped connecting. After extensive troubleshooting, including resetting the iPhone’s network settings, I was able to restore the scale connection, but the band still will not connect.

This also isn’t my first unresolved issue following an iOS update. A previous update broke the connection between MyFitnessPal and Apple Health on this same iPhone. MyFitnessPal stopped reporting data to Apple Health in March, and that remains an outstanding issue despite going through the recommended troubleshooting steps.

I’m posting in the Apple Community because these problems occurred following iOS updates. I’m trying to determine whether other iOS 26.6 users are experiencing similar Bluetooth/connectivity issues and, more importantly, whether anyone has found a solution.

Regarding the VPN comment, I work in governance and security validation for a large IT company, so I’m quite familiar with what a VPN does, when it is appropriate, and the connectivity problems one can introduce. Blanket statements that VPNs provide little security value are simply incorrect; their value depends on the use case, implementation, and threat model.

And for purposes of troubleshooting this issue, no, I’m not using a VPN.

I couldn't possibly know where you work or whether a VPN may be required as you never told us anything about that. Generally speaking for the average user, a VPN is nothing but an issue. If you have one, it should logically be provided and managed by your employer. I'm not debating VPN use with you, but was pointing out they can cause issues and they CAN.

Back to your Bluetooth issue. Perhaps iOS 26.6 caused an issue with your Hume products. But the fact remains Apple doesn't own Hume, so if there is an issue with their devices, help needs to come from Hume. It's possible, they have an update available for their devices, but that has little to do with Apple, nor the iOS 26.6 update.

You do realize this is a user to user ONLY forum, correct? Expecting only other users to know what is causing an issue with Hume devices isn't very likely. I again, recommend you contact Hume. Do or don't, that's up to you.
