MacBook Pro had died for 2nd time in 4 months!!

I have a 16 inch Macbok Pro. I bought it in November 2025. In April it died and was sent off for repair. It returned working but with no explanation as to what had gone wrong. Now I have exactly the same issue. Blank screen Makes noise on start. I have connected an external video screen and can see the screen perfectly and the login bar only appears on that when I close the lid so no login possible.

This is frustrating to be in the same position I was in last April.

I am at the point of deciding to return it for a full refund. I am very disappointed by this situation.

I have tried every single trick I can find online and still have got nowhere.

I made the move from windows and enjoyed the superior qualities of a Mac but am now always fearful that if I shut it down in the future the same thing will happen. (It is ironic that I am typing this plea for help on my old Windows 11 machine!!) Does anyone have any ideas?

If purchased new from Apple in Nov 2025, it is still under warranty. I am assuming that you had a warranty service earlier, the first time. When Apple or Apple Authorized Service Providers (at least in the U.S.) perform repairs, they provide documentation and paperwork explaining what was done. Didn't you receive that?

Since it is still under warranty, you can return it and insist on another warranty service. Often this results in a new Mac being provided instead of doing a repair.

We also would have no idea what repair was previously performed, but usually you will get a work order that shows any parts replaced. Not sure why that was not the same for you.

Sorry, but you are headed for another service appointment. This certainly is not a typical case after a repair, it is just unfortunate that it has happened to you. I would be disappointed too.

Hmmm...I am not familiar with this "often" statement... Is there documentation along these lines after 2 repairs?

Under warranty I could see a new logic board, yes. Disappointing and a pain—yes. No dispute there.

There is no full refund after 14 day return policy— this I can attest to in Apple documentation:

you have a limited 14 days for an exchange or refund for any reason—see  Returns & Refunds Order status

Returns & Refunds - Shopping Help - Apple

Only items that have been purchased directly from Apple, either online or at an Apple Retail Store

I know only two individuals who returned new (or newish) Macs that were still under warranty. One was repaired and one was replaced with a "new" (actually refurbished) computer. So maybe I should not have used the term "often" as that's not much of a statistical basis.

Over the years, my daughter has had two iPhones that malfunctioned while under warranty. When she brought them in, expecting them to be repaired, instead she was given brand new iPhone each time. The other instance was when I had an Apple TV that had problems, Apple simply replaced it with a new device, the original was still under warranty.

Maybe a better choice of words for the Macs would be "sometimes" rather than "often."
