Mac microphone input glitches while recording in FL Studio

The Orange Mic logo on my Mac keeps dropping in and out while I'm recording in FL Studio, resulting in a glitch or stutter.

Mac Studio, macOS 26.6

That orange microphone dot in your Mac menu bar means an app is actively using your microphone. When it flickers or drops, macOS is rapidly starting and stopping the audio stream. This causes FL Studio to stutter or glitch as your audio device resets.

Check audio settings: Open the Mac Audio MIDI Setup app. Make sure your input device is set to the exact same sample rate (like 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz) as your FL Studio audio settings.

Close background apps: Quit web browsers, Zoom, Discord, or screen recorders that might try to use the mic in the background.

Disconnect USB hubs: Plug your USB microphone or audio interface directly into your Mac. Avoid using unpowered USB hubs.

Reset mic permissions: Go to Mac System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. Turn FL Studio off and back on to refresh access.

Adjust buffer size: Increase the audio buffer size in FL Studio settings to give your Mac more time to process audio data without dropping out.
