Safari bookmarks not saving on MacBook Pro: Permissions fix
I am using a MacBook Pro M4 pro and I was facing issue with saving bookmarks on safari. Once saved, it appeared as long as I did not quit the browser. I tried normal mode , incognito mode, disabling extensions and all sort of things. nothing worked. So, I contacted apple support and it seems the issue was permissions with the safari folder under libraries folder in my user account (even though I am an administrator). My user account was not added to the safari folder permissions and thus changes were not committed to disk. I updated the security and permissions of the safari folder to add my user account and give it read and write permissions and the issue got resolved.
Now all changes to bookmarks (add, update, delete) are getting saved even when I quit safari and reopen the browser.
Sharing this as it may benefit people who are also facing the same issue.
