Apple Watch 7 does not power on, screen blank after update

during and after iOS update 26.6, my Apple Watch 7 does not power on- the face remains blank/black. I did however receive the notification screen that it had been updated and pressed the orange OK bar. Then it flashed to the Home Screen very quickly but remains blank

Your Apple Watch Series 7 is likely stuck in a frozen boot state or has encountered a display glitch after completing its companion software sync. Fix it quickly by performing a force restart: press and hold both the side button and the Digital Crown together for 10 to 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Do this only when the software update is finished, because force restarting the watch when the update is in progress can damage the watch

Press the side button and the Digital Crown at the same time.

  • Hold both buttons down for at least 10 seconds.
  • Release the buttons as soon as you see the Apple logo on the screen.

If the Force restart does not start up the watch again automatically, has the battery of your watch ever been replace by Apple? Depending on the age and use of your watch, the battery is defective and does not have enough power to start up.

If the battery health was ok before the update, does the watch still charge when you connect it to the original Apple USB charger and Apple power adapter for at least 30min?
