MacBook Pro 15 inch 2015 with Monterey OS 12.7.6
I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch 2015 with Monterey OS 12.7.6. It is apparently the last version of the OS. Can I get a new OS to download or do I need a new computer?

That Mac cannot run anything later than Monterey. Monterey no longer receives the latest versions of Safari (let alone Pages, Numbers, and Keynote). It is not among the "most recent three" supported by companies such as Microsoft and Adobe.
It is enough to run current versions of Firefox, LibreOffice, and the portions of Affinity Studio which are "free with registration", among other things that might let you get a little bit more use out of the old machine.

Your MBP can run nothing newer than macOS 12.7.6 Monterey. It has reached the end of the update path.
➡️ macOS 13 Ventura is compatible with these computers
Apple's most recent macOS version is Tahoe 26.

If you want or need to run a newer version of macOS, then you will need to buy a newer Mac.
You need one which meets the requirements for the OS version you want.
