AirPod 3 Pros not appearing in My Devices

I've paired new Airpod 3 Pros with my iPhone. But they aren't showing in My Devices on the Apple site - my old Airpods are there, but I want to remove them. How? All the links from Apple.Com say that when paired with one device (iphone or iPad) they should immediately appear in My devices.

iPhone 17 Pro Max, iOS 26

  • To view the warranty of your AirPods, connect them to your iPhone, then go to Settings and tap the AirPods to view warranty information. Or you can enter its serial number on the Check Coverage website. There is no registering a device, warranty coverage is based on the Serial Number of a device and the purchase receipt is what proves ownership.
  • The Mange Devices in iCloud is only for devices that are signed into your Apple Account, and a Bluetooth device is not. On the devices you see there, you can sign out the Apple Account and they will no longer appear under Manage Devices, but that will not affect its warranty. It is not registering a device, it is just showing devices signed into your account, which could even be a device you did not purchase at all. Those devices are not registered to you, they are simply signed into your Apple Account and you would go there to remove a "rogue" device that should not be signed into your account.
  • Find My will show all devices signed into your Account, whether the device was purchased by you or not, and any Bluetooth device that has been paired to a device there. There is no Activation Lock on the AirPods that locks the device to your Apple Account, it is locked to an iPhone/iPad/Mac no matter what Apple Account is used on the device.

To remove your old AirPods and make your new AirPods Pro 3 show up, you must manage them through the Find My app or via iCloud.com, because AirPods link via the Find My network rather than the standard device list.

Open the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad.

Tap the Devices tab at the bottom.

Tapyour old AirPods from the list.

Swipe up on the information card.

Tap Remove This Device and confirm.

Alternatively, log in to iCloud.com, open Find My, select the old AirPods, and click Remove This Device.

On APple.com all I see are my iPhone 17 Pro, my old iPhone 15 (which is marked on there as 'lost'), my Apple Watch and, for some reason I can't explain, 4 listings for my Lenovo laptop! But neither my old or new AirPods. So it's on Apple.com where I wanted to manage my devices and see them - all of them! :-)

Bluetooth devices do not show at the location you identified. That will only show devices that are logged into your Apple Account. Find My is where you will see the Bluetooth devices and you should be able to tap on your old AirPods their to remove them.

No, I understand that, thanks - On the Apple site I expect to see all my devices that are registered with Apple, for warranty purposes at least if for no other reason. My question is really why my old AirPods aren't there, nor my new ones. The answer for the new ones< I am sure, is that I haven't gone somewhere on Apple.com to register them. Apple can't automatically assign them to my account when I buy them - in case I bought something as a gift. But I don't see anywhere on the web to register devices to my account. Which is why I asked my original question.

Does Apple not include AirPods as 'devices' but regards them as accessories or something.

And for clarity, Find My only has my iPhone 17, Apple Watch, AirPods Pro and iPad in it under devices - which is correct. I also see various Apple Tags and Spotminders trackers listed under 'Items'. Again, all good! :-)

Oh, don't you just love the way things are made more complicated! :-) The way other tech manufacturers work IME is Buy product, go to their website, register it and date of purchase. onus is on user to do so. Thereafter one can check it, remove it - seek support for it. I mentioned Warranty but that's not my concern particularly. It's a side benefit of having it logged with the manufacturer.

I must admit I don't use iCloud intentionally for anything I rely upon. I use MS for my computing needs, I've got OneDrive, a Google Storage account (not sure why or how) and Drop Box for storage etc. And several external hard drives with backups on! And RoboForm for password storage and management so although I know iCloud is doing something for me, I've no idea how useful it is to me - I've tended to figure it's Apple's way of trying to lasso me into more of the Apple world whereas I just want the Apple hardware.

I've probably just made this more of an issue than it needs to be. It just baffled me as to how one gets products added to the My Devices on the Apple portal - I'd gone there for some support matters but was left with this one conundrum. It wont' keep me awake at night. :-) Thanks for your comments!
