GarageBand clips disappear when moved and crashes on iMac

I have a weird issue in garage band. When I have a project with multiple tracks, I will record a short clip on one track, and then move it up (or down) to another track above or below it (this is my way of "punching in"). When I move the clip to another track sometimes another clip on a completely different track disappears. I can hit undo a couple of times and the clip reappears. It doesn't seem to happen all the the time, but when it does happen it will repeat over and over. The workaround is- instead of dragging and dropping the clip from one track to another, I cut it and then paste it to the other track. That seems to prevent it from happening. Again, the clips that are being deleted are not disappearing from the track I just recorded on, or the track I am moving the newly recorded clip to...they are disappearing from a totally different track.

These are not MIDI or software instrument tracks, but live/real instruments/audio recordings. It is the latest version Garageband on a brand new 2026 iMac.

The other issue I have is when I am expanding or collapsing the timescale of the entire project, if I do so too quickly Garageband crashes instantly.

If anyone has a solution let me know, thanks.
