Touch ID was very secure; Face ID is not. How do I make Face ID more secure?
I am using an iPhone 17e running iOS 26.6 with Face ID enabled. I recently upgraded from iPhone SE3 to the 17e and so far it's the worst Apple device I've ever used- it's too big, it's insecure, and the gestures that replace the Home button are inconsistent and not intuitive. What I'm specifically writing about is a security issue. I was holding the phone with the screen on but had not specifically unlocked it. Someone grabbed it out of my hand and was able to use the phone since the phone had been within view of my face even though I had not specifically taken any action to unlock it. Is there any way to require some deliberate action to unlock the phone via Face ID? Otherwise, the only option I'm left with is to disable Face ID and rely only on passcode, which is a huge step back from what I had with the SE3. The only thing I actually like about the 17e is battery life, so if I am stuck with relying on passcode, I may as well migrate back to the SE3.
I'm hoping someone has some ideas on making Face ID more secure. Thanks in advance!
