Music crash, now all Recently Added is EVERYTHING in alphabetical order. I need it by date!
Updated to Tahoe 26.6.2 and immediately after that I was adding artwork to an album (which Apple never seems to get right, or even do!) and Music crashed. Crashed so hard it wouldn't open again without crashing—apparently the ArtworkResize Daemon.
This is my external disk Library of files ~500GB, not Apple Music streamed anything—I work with music and am constantly putting in things to listen to and taking them out while working on versions, plus I have a huge amount of live concert recordings and ethnomusicological studies. The "Sync Library" *feature* destroys anything not found in Apple Music, as I discovered painfully several years ago.
So, yeah, had to rebuild it, but I have everything backed up on Backblaze and local disks, though last local backup was a good week ago.
Anyway, got the Backblaze backup of the ~/Music/Music/Music Library.musiclibrary from a day ago, got the ~/Library/Application Support/Containers/com.apple.AMPArtworkAgent folder, got the old cache from ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Music
BUT it still reverted to the Recently Added being EVERYTHING in alphabetical order. The app can't read "date modified" in files, even? And there's no decent ability to sort in any of the Library subheadings.
And of course it removed a lot of the artwork that I had to manually add to albums over the years. I mean, Apple can't even find major label album artwork, for a lot of stuff, let alone live concerts.
This is important to me obviously, as the recently added by date is usually what I'm working on or listening to.
How can I fix it? Did I forget the preference file, I didn't think that would have to do this. I could try again, I guess.
