What I meant was that when I click on a document stored in the “files” app it automatically opens in my “Canon” print app. I have since deleted the Canon app and solved the problem. I will reload that app at some point and see if the problem reappears.

OK, I understand, I wrongly assumed there was a typo in the original post. But notice that in the screenshot I posted there is that Get Info dialog where you can, just like in macOS, set the default app to open images. So maybe that Canon print app was set as such.
It looks like it, Richard. This page in the user guide describes, how to change "Open with" on the iPad or to select an app to open a file, and this page exists only for iPadOS 17 to iPadOS 26. Find and view files and folders in Files on iPad - Apple Support
Any chance you can update? iPadOS 26 uses Preview, and it also uses QuickLook. I'm not sure what you mean by "Print app."
You can use Share>Save Image to copy the picture to Photos.
Recently iPadOS 26 Files.app set Preview.app as its default image viewer. Long-press some image there and select "Preview with QuickLook" if you want to browse images in the old style. ...or was that what you were asking?

Unfortunately Hull-50-54 is in iPadOS 16, and I think that this "Open With" wasn't available then.
