Battery replacement for device from different market ( sim and esim only device)

I m in Canada. The 17’s sold here are esim only.

I m using a 17 pro with a sim card , phone was purchased from Australia.

If ever I need a battery replacement done ( no AppleCare + will be paying out of pocket) , will Apple Store in Canada accept it given that my phone has a different size battery compared to the units sold here.

Then you should know that batteries for eSIM only iPhone 17 are slightly larger than batteries for phone with a slot for a SIM and an Apple store in one region probably won't have the proper size battery for a different region.

You’re correct, the batteries are different. But common consumables such as batteries are typically stocked or available to order from depot. Orders are generally shipped next day delivery so depending on when ordered a delay of 24 to 48 might occur, depending on weekends.

Do you realize people depend on their iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches? You understand that people travel, correct? Apple even sends their own employees on extended overseas business trips. Do you expect them to do without their iPhone until they return home? You want them to buy a device in another country or region just so they can access their data on iCloud? iPhones are essential in many applications around the world and Apple is a global company. Common parts are typically in stock or available to order, especially in larger stores.

The iPhone 17 Pro has two different size batteries, worldwide. It’s not a parts or inventory issue to stock different batteries of different sizes.

What’s not likely to be stocked or available is the main logic board because of the multiple configurations of storage, radios etc. I trained as the operations manager and as such the entire inventory of the store was under my supervision. I’m very familiar with all store operations.

will Apple Store in Canada accept it given that my phone has a different size battery compared to the units sold here.

That will depend on whether the Apple Store / Genius Bar in Canada can gain access to a part that would not normally be available in Canada.

I doubt that anyone on a user site will be able to speak for Apple in this case.

In other words, you won't really know the answer until you ask someone at the Genius Bar in Canada.

Best case......the Genius Bar can special order the part and install it

Worst case.....you will need to ship the phone back to a shop for service in Australia

Common consumable parts like batteries are frequently available to all Apple Retail Stores. I’m a former Apple Store Manager and the store was near a large military base that saw iPhones from around the world. Common parts like batteries were usually stocked, and if out of stock they could be ordered and arrive next day or day after (depending on weekends).

As previously advised, the Genius Bar at the Apple Store will be best source of information. In Canada, call 1-800-263-3394.

Genuine batteries are available only to the Genius Bar and authorized Apple Service shops. The part is not sold separately, it is sold along with the installation of the part.

Whether or not a shop in Canada will even have access to a part for an Australian version of a phone is an open question.

You won't know the answer until you ask them.

If you are asking for an opinion, I would very surprised if the Genius Bar or authorized Apple repair shop in Canada would have access to parts for an Australian version iPhone.

Well, in addition to Apple Stores, there are Authorized Apple Service Centers. The probability of their assisting you is the same as the probability of being assisted in an Apple Store.

There are unauthorized places that may or may not have the battery, but if you do any business with them, Apple will refuse to service your iPhone in the future.

And remember, iPhone batteries are not user replaceable parts. You would be purchasing a battery repair, not a battery part.
