2008 iMac stuck on loading screen, cannot boot or backup files
I turned on my dads old 2008 iMac yesterday which was working fine but restarted due to a never ending rainbow wheel. From there I’ve been unable to get past this loading screen. My main reason for getting into this computer is to back everything up on an external hard drive. Here’s what I’ve tried below:
Resetting NVAM/PRAM - this did nothing.
Recovery mode - unable to install OS due to locked drives
First aid disk utility - errors encountered but nothing was fixed.
Tried to do coding in terminal to unlock disk so I can reinstall OS but nothing worked.
Tried entering safe mode but on power up this does not work.
Is there any other options left? It was working fine yesterday until I restarted. I hear no clicking noise either that would indicated a failed drive. All I want is to turn it on so I can back up files onto an external drive.
