MacBook missing from delivery – Apple refusing refund. What can I do?

I ordered a MacBook Air from Apple for $2,404 through their 3-hour delivery service. It was delivered by Uber on 7 August. I opened the package immediately and the MacBook was missing; only the charger and packaging were inside. I reported it to Apple just 13 minutes after delivery.

Apple investigated and later told me they won’t refund me because their records show the MacBook was dispatched from the store. They haven’t provided me with a case number, written investigation outcome, or evidence that the MacBook was actually inside the package when it was delivered.

Has anyone experienced this with Apple, and what should I do to get Apple to resolve it or provide evidence of what happened?

Apple (the shipper) contracted with Uber and is indeed ultimately responsible for delivering the product.

You correctly submitted a claim to Apple.

Your claim was denied by Apple; an action taken presumably w/ some basis.

We are fellow users w/o any official capacity within Apple, so there’s nothing more that we can do.

Your next avenue would be to “dispute” the charge with your payment method’s issuer.
