Apple Watch Fitness app move ring calorie count decreases on the same day

I have an Apple Watch series 11 bought in January so relatively new. Twice this week the number presented in the move ring within the Fitness app has gone down on the same day. For example, today at 11:20 the calorie count was 530 of 680 on the move ring. Then at 1552 (3:52PM) the calorie count showed 495 of 680 what is causing this to happen?

The watch is current on its operating system

Your Move ring calorie count drops during the day usually because of third-party fitness app syncing conflicts or delayed data reconciliation between your Apple Watch and iPhone. When another app (like Strava, Nike Run Club, or Peloton) syncs a workout with a different or delayed active calorie calculation, it can overwrite or subtract from the native watch totals once the devices fully refresh and resolve data priority.

Try this

Check Data Sources: Open the Health app on your iPhone, go to Browse > Activity Energy > Data Sources & Access, and ensure your Apple Watch is prioritized at the top.

Manage Third-Party Write Permissions: Revoke write access for external fitness apps in the Health app if they are duplicating or lowering your active calorie metrics.

Restart Devices: Perform a force restart on both your iPhone and Apple Watch to clear temporary sync bugs.
