If Apple has no record of this, why would they issue a refund?

Do you perhaps mean a subscription? Did you subscribe to this app outside the App Store? Like through a webpage? or other platform? If so, you would need to request the refund through the same platform you subscribed or payed for it.

Apple Pay works outside of Apple's ecosystem, as it is used in physical stores, 3rd party websites that support it and some apps that offer the to option. However, payment done through Apple Pay such as subscriptions started using Apple Pay in stores, 3rd party websites or apps cannot be managed through your Apple Account, and as such Apple is not responsible for them.

If you made a payment or started a subscription using Apple Pay then you need to cancel art and request a refind for it wherever you made the payment.

If you subscribed through Apple's App Store platform, then Apple Pay would not really be involved.

Welcome and thank you for reaching out. 🤗

First, try contacting the merchant directly, ideally by email or any official support channel they list.

If they remain unresponsive, you can dispute the Apple Pay charge through the card issuer linked to your Apple Pay account, since Apple Pay transactions are processed by the card network.

Open the Wallet app, select the card used, find the transaction, and use the “Report an Issue” or “Dispute Transaction” option.

Your bank or card issuer will handle the refund process under their dispute policies.

Good luck! 👋🏼😉
