Apple Pencil Pro haptic feedback stopped working after iPad update

I have noticed that after the recent update for the iPad (26.6.1), my Apple Pencil Pro's haptic feedback stopped working. This was after using double tap.

Double tap itself still works, but not the haptic feedback (vibration). I have tried restarting my iPad several times, I have turned Bluetooth on and off, I have pressed "forget" for the Apple Pencil Pro on Bluetooth and connected to it after a while, but the issue still persists.

I use the iPad Pro M5 2025 and the Apple Pencil Pro. I haven't come across this issue before during the nearly one year I have had these two products.

Is there any way I can resolve this issue? Or do I have to wait until the next iPadOS update?

Since double tap still works, I’d check one setting before assuming the Pencil itself has failed.

Go to Settings > Apple Pencil and make sure Haptics is turned on. Apple says that setting controls the light pulse you feel when you squeeze or double-tap Apple Pencil Pro.

If Haptics is already on, turn it off, restart the iPad, then turn it back on and test again. You’ve already done the other useful pairing and restart checks.

If it still stopped only after updating to iPadOS 26.6.1, I’d report it to Apple rather than erase or reinstall anything. That would help narrow down whether it’s an iPadOS issue or a hardware problem with the Pencil’s haptic engine.

Hello, just a little update, I've tried these steps, but there's still no vibration.

After some digging on the community forums there is a near similar post that came across the same issues as I did. The only difference is, is that they experienced it on iPadOS 26.5.2, rather than iPadOS 26.6.1. We both use the same products it seems, which is the iPad Pro M5 11 inch.

Some people have come across the same problems and have discussed on other platforms too, so my guess is it has something to do with the recent OS update?

For now, I will wait for the next software update and see what happens, I have reported the bug on Apple's Feedback page (although version 26.6.1 isn't listed on there). I won't be factory resetting my products for now as I have work to complete, and to my knowledge, I don't think I can roll back an update to previous iPadOS versions (correct me if I am wrong)?

Thanks for the update. Since double-tap still works and you’ve already tried the relevant settings, restart, and re-pairing steps, I think waiting for another iPadOS update is reasonable. Reporting it through Apple Feedback was also a good idea.

And yes, I wouldn’t factory-reset the iPad for this. Apple’s normal restore process erases the device and installs the latest available iPadOS; it isn’t a supported way to go back to an earlier version. (Apple Support)

The similar reports make an iPadOS issue a possibility, but I wouldn’t call that confirmed until Apple addresses it in an update or release notes.

If haptics return after the next update, please post back — that would be useful confirmation for others seeing the same thing.
