Unpaid balance from a subscription advertised as a 14-day free trial

Hi everyone,

I have an unpaid balance of US$29.99 on my Apple Account from a MotiveWave subscription.

When I subscribed, it was advertised to me as a 14-day free trial. I cancelled the subscription, as I did not intend to purchase a paid subscription. However, Apple still attempted to charge me US$29.99, and the amount is now showing as an unpaid balance on my Apple Account.

I have already contacted Apple Support and asked them to review the charge, but I’m not sure what else I can do.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is there a way to have the US$29.99 unpaid balance removed/reversed?

You’re likely still being charged because the subscription wasn’t fully canceled before the next billing cycle.

To resolve this, go to Settings, [your name], select Subscriptions and confirm that your subscription is canceled.

Then, visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the charge and request a refund explaining why you canceled the subscription.

Hello~ If you owe Apple money…it will need to be paid and then ask for a refund…

Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple - Apple Support

When exactly were you charged for the $29 subscription. Check your bank statement. If it was the day you downloaded the app, then you didn't qualify for the free trial and were charged immediately.

If you are bing charged you either did not select a free trial or you were ineligible. Visit support.apple.com/billing. Short of entering a request, there is nothing more that you can do.

I did select the 14-day free trial, and I cancelled the subscription. I did not intend to purchase a paid subscription. The issue is that Apple is now showing the $29.99 as an unpaid balance. I have already submitted a refund/support request. I’m asking whether there is any way to have the unpaid balance reviewed and removed if the charge was made after a trial that was advertised as free
