Word windows snap to half size after closing Chrome on Mac

I have two Word documents open side by side and they are extended vertically to the bottom of the dock.

I open Google Chrome to look things up. It is not a full screen.

I close Google Chrome after looking at what I need.

Both Word windows snap to half size for some reason.

I tried changing "window title bar double-click action" to no action.

In the Windows section of Desktop and Dock I toggled off the last four settings.

I changed Google system settings "Use graphics acceleration when available" to be toggled off.

I don't even know what any of this does

It's really annoying please help me!

Okay update, the documents are shrinking when I open Chrome now too.

Okay update, the documents are snapping even when i did nothing.

This behavior is caused by the built-in Window Tiling feature introduced in recent macOS versions. When you bring up a new window (like Chrome) or interact with nearby windows, macOS tries to automatically resize and "snap" your open Word documents to prevent overlapping, which shrinks them.

Here is how you can disable this automated resizing and keep your Word windows exactly as you sized them:

Disable Window Tiling Features: Go to the Apple menu  > System Settings > Desktop & Dock.
Turn off automatic snapping: Scroll down to the Windows section. Look for the setting "Tile by dragging windows to screen edges" and toggle it off.
Turn off margin snapping: Also, make sure to turn off "Hold ⌥ key while dragging windows to tile"and uncheck any options that allow windows to automatically resize when layouts change.
Check Third-Party Apps: If the issue persists even after changing macOS settings, make sure you don't have a third-party window manager running in the background (such as Magnet, Rectangle, or BetterSnapTool) that might be overriding your layout.
