iPod speaker cannot exit paused mode
I have my iPod speaker connected but cannot get the speaker out of “paused”. What can be done to disable paused?

This is a common AirPlay routing glitch where the HomePod mini accepts the audio connection token but gets stuck in a handshake loop, causing the media player to freeze in the "paused" state.
Here are the most effective ways to force the speaker out of this loop and restore playback:
- Force Restart via the Home App: Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad. Press and hold the HomePod mini tile, scroll down to the settings gear icon, tap Reset HomePod, and then select Restart HomePod. This clears the active audio cache without erasing your settings.
- Toggle the Audio Source: On your playback device, swipe to open the Control Center and tap the AirPlay audio picker icon. Switch the audio output back to your device's internal speakers, wait about 10 seconds, and then select the HomePod mini again. This forces a completely new connection sequence.
- Control it via Siri Directly: Instead of using your phone screen, try bypassing the AirPlay interface entirely by giving a direct voice command to the speaker. Say "Hey Siri, play" or "Hey Siri, resume"directly to the HomePod mini to kick it out of the software pause state.
- Power Cycle the Hardware: If the software commands remain unresponsive, unplug the HomePod mini's power adapter from the wall outlet, wait 15 seconds, and plug it back in. Allow it a minute to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network and try streaming again.
