HTML not displaying correctly in event descriptions on Apple Calendar

If you receive calendar invites from Google Calendar that contain HTML-formatted text, the macOS Apple Calendar app often struggles to display them correctly, showing raw HTML tags instead.

I’ve found a handy workaround using the macOS Shortcuts app that lets you view the formatted text using Quick Look.

Step-by-Step Guide: Creating the Shortcut

1. Open the Shortcuts app on your Mac.
2. Click the + icon to create a new shortcut.
3. Click the 'i' (Shortcut Details) icon in the top-right corner.
4. Check Use as Quick Action (make sure Services Menu is also checked underneath it).
5. Uncheck Show in Spotlight.
6. Click the Details icon (rectangle with two lines above it, next to the 'i' icon) to return to the actions sidebar.
7. Search for Make Rich Text from HTML in the search box, then drag and drop it into your workflow.
8. Search for Quick Look in the search box, then drag and drop it right below the first action.

How to Use It

1. Open the broken calendar entry in the Calendar app.
2. Highlight and select all the text in the description field.
3. Right-click the selected text, go to the Services menu, and select the shortcut you just created.
4. A Quick Look window will pop up, displaying the description with its proper HTML formatting.

Note: If anything in these steps ever changes with future macOS updates, you can always drop these instructions into an AI assistant to get updated directions.
