Known Issue: iPhone 13 Pro Max Display Failure Post-iOS Update Resurfaced. [White Screen, White Screen of Death]

While talking to my friends and family got to know there are multiple instances of this issues that has resurfaced again, it was a widespread issues until 2025 and now it has come back again ! Looks like apple want users to dump their old devices and but new one, is this selling trick with Faulty Updates ?

I recently took my iPhone 13 Pro Max to apple service center after experiencing a sudden display failure immediately following the latest iOS update. (iOS 26.6)

The technician's diagnosis, recorded on the signed delivery report, confirmed the display needs replacement. Importantly, the service centre's inspection recorded no physical impact, liquid ingress, or tampering whatsoever. However, because the device is just outside the warranty window, I was informed the repair would be chargeable at approximately ₹34,000.

I believe this is a white screen bug that has resurfaced and apple should take care of this and fix the affected devices:

  • The Timing: The onset of this display fault happened immediately after an official software update on a device with an immaculate physical history.
  • Widespread Reports: Similar post-update display issues on iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max models have been widely reported across Apple Support Communities and technical forums. This strongly suggests this is not an ordinary case of user-caused wear and tear.
  • Need for Investigation: I believe this is a systemic bug/hardware flaw that has resurfaced for the 13 Pro Max with the latest iOS update. This must be investigated by Apple through such reports, rather than asking the customer to shoulder an unreasonable and steep paid repair.

If you are facing any similar issues, please respond to this message so that apple could take it seriously.

Sorry, but you're not writing anyone at Apple here. This is a user to user only forum, which Apple neither participates, nor reads for user feedback. Sure any device, from any manufacturer can fail. And iPhone 13's can now be up to 5 years old at this point.

If an update caused this, it would likely have caused it to all the millions upon millions of other iPhone 13 Pro's out there and this forum would be blown up with people complaining, but it's not. The tech press would be all over such an issue and it would likely be on the evening news, but it's not.

I'm sorry your screen failed, but like any product outside its warranty, repairs are your responsibility. Of course, you could have purchased AppleCare+ when you bought the phone, which would have helped considerably with this. But evidently you gambled and didn't buy a plan.

No one here is going to investigate anything, because again, we're not Apple on this user only forum. If you want to share feedback with Apple where it will be read by them, you can use this link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

If you actually read the Terms of Use Agreement that you signed in order to use this site, you would know that this is a user-to-user site.

We are all users here......just like you. Apple is not here. They will not see your post or reply.

If you want to contact Apple, you can use this link:

Please keep in mind that over a billion users have updated with no issues at all. If this were a major issue, this site would have been flooded, and you would have heard about this on the evening news. None of this has happened.

If you want your screen replaced.......you will have to pay for the service.
