iPhone cannot send or receive messages or calls with kids, but Mac can

I recently got a Mac, and can now only send and receive messages with my kids on the Mac. We are on the same family sharing plan, and they do not have issues sending or receiving messages from those outside of the plan. I cannot call or text them from my iPhone. All tablets, iPhones, and the Mac are updated to the latest version.
