Do hidden alerts carry over to new conversations with the same sender?

If I 'hide alerts' for messages from a specific sender, then when that conversation is over, I delete it.....are new conversations with the same sender considered resuming the same, still 'alerts hidden' conversation, or a new conversation with alerts now back to unhidden?

Asking b/c a workplace related alert system is firing off alerts that I do not need to see (but others do) many times today, and I'd like to shut them up....but long after I delete this conversation, weeks or months from now, when the alert system fires off again, I'd like to be alerted.

So...if I hide alerts today, will I get alerts next month, assuming I delete the conversation after today, and before the next alert goes out?
