CanoScan LiDE 300 scanner compatibility issues with macOS 26 on M1 Mac
Drivers for CanoScan LiDE 300 ; Compatibility issues with macOS 26 ; Conflicting information from Canon and AirPrint registrar
Hello Community,
I'm aware that there have been a few conversations about this regarding compatibility with newer versions of macOS; However, the downloads are not able to be found on Canon's official website anymore--for drivers. I should specify that the software utility does not work.
When this scanner is plugged in, is is recognized and can be seen; shown below:
+-o IOUSBHostInterface@0 <class IOUSBHostInterface, id 0x100013351, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (8 ms), retain 5> { "USBPortType" = 0x0 "IOCFPlugInTypes" = {"2d9786c6-9ef3-11d4-ad51-000a27052861"="IOUSBHostFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOUSBLib.bundle"} "USB Vendor Name" = "Canon" "USB Serial Number" = "5CCD9F" "bcdDevice" = 0x100 "USBSpeed" = 0x3 "idProduct" = 0x1913 "IOServiceDEXTEntitlements" = (("com.apple.developer.driverkit.transport.usb")) "bInterfaceSubClass" = 0x0 "bConfigurationValue" = 0x1 "locationID" = 0x1130000 "USB Product Name" = "LiDE 300" "bInterfaceProtocol" = 0xff "iInterface" = 0x0 "bAlternateSetting" = 0x0 "idVendor" = 0x4a9 "bInterfaceNumber" = 0x0 "bInterfaceClass" = 0xff "bNumEndpoints" = 0x3 } +-o IOUSBHostInterface@1 <class IOUSBHostInterface, id 0x100013352, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (7 ms), retain 5> { "USBPortType" = 0x0 "IOCFPlugInTypes" = {"2d9786c6-9ef3-11d4-ad51-000a27052861"="IOUSBHostFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOUSBLib.bundle"} "USB Vendor Name" = "Canon" "USB Serial Number" = "5CCD9F" "bcdDevice" = 0x100 "USBSpeed" = 0x3 "idProduct" = 0x1913 "IOServiceDEXTEntitlements" = (("com.apple.developer.driverkit.transport.usb")) "bInterfaceSubClass" = 0xff "bConfigurationValue" = 0x1 "locationID" = 0x1130000 "USB Product Name" = "LiDE 300" "bInterfaceProtocol" = 0xff "iInterface" = 0x0 "bAlternateSetting" = 0x0 "idVendor" = 0x4a9 "bInterfaceNumber" = 0x1 "bInterfaceClass" = 0xff "bNumEndpoints" = 0x2 } +-o IOUSBHostInterface@2 <class IOUSBHostInterface, id 0x100013353, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (8 ms), retain 5> { "USBPortType" = 0x0 "IOCFPlugInTypes" = {"2d9786c6-9ef3-11d4-ad51-000a27052861"="IOUSBHostFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOUSBLib.bundle"} "USB Vendor Name" = "Canon" "USB Serial Number" = "5CCD9F" "bcdDevice" = 0x100 "USBSpeed" = 0x3 "idProduct" = 0x1913 "IOServiceDEXTEntitlements" = (("com.apple.developer.driverkit.transport.usb")) "bInterfaceSubClass" = 0xff "bConfigurationValue" = 0x1 "locationID" = 0x1130000 "USB Product Name" = "LiDE 300" "bInterfaceProtocol" = 0xff "iInterface" = 0x0 "bAlternateSetting" = 0x0 "idVendor" = 0x4a9 "bInterfaceNumber" = 0x2 "bInterfaceClass" = 0xf "bNumEndpoints" = 0x2 }
Additionally, when using a Windows VM (Parallels); I can even add the scanner to Windows, but I'm unable to install the Canon Windows application AND driver because it's not compatible.
I'm guessing it's because I'm using and ARM Mac. I'm using the 2020 MacBook Air. (M1)
Has anyone figured out how to get it to work on their M series Mac? I can't use image scanner. I find it odd that both Apple and Canon say that it's supported by AirPrint and it's supported by macOS 26. I'm guessing it's coming down to x86/ARM compatibility :/
MacBook Air 13″, macOS 26.5
