I would start by restarting your Mac and temporarily disabling all Safari extensions under Safari >> Settings >> Extensions.

Then test Safari in a Private Window using File >> New Private Window. (Apple Support)

If Safari continues to freeze, try starting your 2020 MacBook Pro in Safe Mode.

If yours is the Intel model, restart it while holding Shift until the login window appears. (Apple Support)

If Safari becomes unresponsive, you can use Option-Command-Esc to force quit it. (Apple Support)

I would not reinstall macOS or delete Safari's complete profile yet.

Those steps are more intrusive and aren't necessary as an initial troubleshooting measure.

Try and restrat the MacBook to see if the issues persist, most of the times minor glitches will resolve this way
