iPhone Import - No Photos?

I have a number of new photos saved on my iPhone, both those downloaded and taken with the camera, which I'm trying to import to my Mac. I plugged the iPhone into the Mac with a physical cable and the iPhone is recognized. When I open the Photos app on the Mac and iPhone 14 is selected under Devices. I see the words "preparing to import" and then that is replaced by the words "no photos." I can airdrop but not import.

I was on my iPhone for that last reply and have now moved back to my desktop Mac mini in the office.

What year model is the Mac mini and what macOS version is it running...?

If your Mac mini is running 13.3 as indicated in your profile, then that could be your problem.

The next step from here is to update Ventura 13.3 to the latest version or if possible upgrade to Sequoia 15.

Also tell me more about the iPhone 14 and what iOS version it is running.

I'm asking because it is not showing up in the Photos Sidebar or on the task bar with a User name.
