MacBook Air M5 — two tiny dark spots appeared on display after 2 months

I purchased my MacBook Air M5 about two months ago and recently noticed two very small dark spots on the display.

They don't appear to be surface dirt and remain visible after gently cleaning the screen. The display otherwise works normally.

Has anyone else experienced this on the M5 MacBook Air? Could this be a dead/stuck pixel or foreign material inside the display?

Since the MacBook is only around two months old, would this normally be something Apple would inspect/cover under the standard warranty?

Yes, this could be dead/stuck pixel. It does happen.

No, this apparently single pixel problem is not likely to be covered by Apple's standard warranty. Typically a single pixel is not cause for repair or replacement of the screen. A group or row of pixels across the screen horizontally or vertically is likely to be cause for replacement, though. (I don't even see that pixel in your last photo, btw.)

But don't take my word for it. Have your Mac examined and evaluated by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider directly.

I have exactly the same problem with my 2026 MacBook Pro M5 Max and it's very annoying when editing photo's and video's. Apple's Genius Bar has just recently replaced my screen because of many tiny "dead-pixel-like scratches which appear to be in the coating of the screen. They are not dead pixels but very tiny scratches or cracks in the coating as you can feel it when you slide over the spots with your nails. I even bought an extra sleeve for inside my laptop backpack and I always bring a microfiber cloth with me to clean my keyboard after every time I have used my MacBook. Still Apple keeps telling me it is my fault this keeps happening while my old MacBook Pro (2018) still doesn't show any cracks or scratches on the screen...

I will add a recent picture of the new crack after the replacement of my screen a few weeks ago. Hopefully Apple will take this problem seriously as it seems to be a problem with the soft coating.
