Is my unsealed dark cherry iPad Air cover a counterfeit or used?

I have ordered on Amazon.de a smartfolio cover in the dark cherry colour. I really like the colour but I couldn’t help but notice that the cover was not sealed and inside it has those whitish dusty particles. I am worried it is a counterfeit or used. The website has a visit the apple store link and is sold and dispatched by Amazon (us).

looking forward to an answer thanks.

Is it an Apple product?

Apple is not currently making an iPad Air case in that dark cherry color.

Amazon can sell things from many different manufacturers and even returned items.

Did it say it was new and not returned, refurbished or renewed?

It's possible the tape on it just lost adhesiveness and detached from the side,. Last time Apple made a dark cherry case was in 2022.

With that said, it's probably just an older case, not a fake one. Amazon is an Apple Authorized reseller.

Sorry, no, but in general, most Apple products have a pull tab or tape over at least one edge. So it's likely a real, new and unopened one would have one.

Though looking at several unboxing videos of folio cases on YouTube including the black cherry one, it seems it had no actual tape and once the plastic cover is removed you just pull the tab at the top to side to get the drawer out.
