Am I Missing an iCloud Download Option That Preserves Photo Metadata?
I hope there is new information about this seemingly old problem of iCloud + downloads + metadata loss. I have about ~4500 photos in my desktop Photos app. I sync this with iCloud. I have not turned on storage optimization option. My laptop is running out of storage and I could turn on storage optimization, but haven't.
My concern is that I have a lot of old photos I have scanned and painstakingly edited creation dates and titles so they sort correctly in Photos and are generally more useful when I share them. When I export from Photos app, the correct, edited metadata is maintained and extractable if needed.
When I export from iCloud, the correct data is not preserved--even though the Info in iCloud shows the correct edited titles and dates. Apple must have that information somewhere. They have access to the data in the Photos app. They apparently have the information in iCloud. This is frustrating.
Is there an option for downloading that I'm missing? Are there other workarounds? I've searched this forum, but hope there are some ideas out there that I missed.
