Can’t delete shared AirTags from family members devices/account.

I have several AirTags that I, the owner, have recently deleted/removed. A few of them can not be removed from family members accounts that they were shared with.

I just found what I’m guessing is the problem/common issue. The AirTags at issue were added to my account years ago when my account had a meaningless iCloud.com email address. I have since changed the associated iCloud.com email address, once that feature was made available.

how do I get these old AirTags removed from the family members account?
