iOS 26.6.1 update stuck at 'update requested' on iPhone and iPad

iOS 26.6.1 will not move past "update requested" stage. Has persisted over 3 days and 4 attempts, both on iPhone and iPad. Is Apple update broken???

Have you tried to remove the downloaded update and download it again to see if the issues persist

Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

Tap on General.

Select iPhone Storage.

Look through the list of items to find the iOS update file.

Tap on the update file.

Tap Delete Update and confirm your choice.

Thanks Nick for the reply, greatly appreciate it! Sadly, there is no update that has been downloaded - have checked and there is nothing listed in the location for updates. It appears to never get that far. Must say, deeply disappointed with Apple on this - updates provide critical security updates that are needed. How Apple is not addressing this, after 3 days of failure, is a failure of Apple. Great way to keep the users secured on these devices :-(((

Thanks Nick! Gotta say, awesome screen handle and icon! XD. Looks like I’m part of your club when it comes to apple products.

Update to my situation - by some sort of magic, the iPad finally decided to not only download, but also install, the required update! Progress is always good, lol.

Sadly, issue persists with my phone, I am about to attempt a forced re-boot (again, x3) to see if the “magic” can be caught by this device as well. :-)

Will post updates as they become available

I swear all these things do is make us stress about what’s going on with it, and randomly the next day it’s just fine. It’s magic. If your phone is still doing the same thing I suggest emotionally explaining to it how much better it will be after the update, tuck it in for bed on the charger, and let it do it’s thing overtime. Sometimes these things are just on an extended monday schedule lol.
