My Desktop on my Mac is missing.

After getting rid of things on my old iPhone to free up storage and then doing a backup before getting a new iPhone, my Desktop and all of the files that used to be in my Desktop on my Mac are gone. I have an iCloud archive folder on my Mac, but it now just shows only the files that were on my previous iPhone, instead of the hundreds of files that were on my Mac before. I am trying to toggle Desktop&Documents Folders back on but it won't stay on. I think there's a chance my Desktop relocated and that's why Finder can't find it.
