How can I delete Image Playground from my MacBook Air (M4)? Generative AI is offensive to me. Not only will I never use this app, I also hate seeing it sitting there in my apps.

The Image Playground app bundle is part of macOS, and is associated with Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence itself runs locally unless remote access is expressly user-authorized.
If it is a concern, Apple Intelligence can be switched off.
Note too though that Apple Intelligence doesn’t include or control certain other machine learning features present within macOS.
Other apps that folks have occasionally wanted to delete include Chess app and Stocks app, among the dozens or hundreds of other potential candidates for deletion. This for finding previous protected-app-deletion-request discussions.
More generally for your customization goals, Linux and any of the BSDs are fine choices, and can be a better fit for your preferences to customize the install. I would recommend those or similar platforms targeting customizations here too, as macOS is most definitely not an appropriate choice for installations requiring customizations.

The Image Playground app is an integral component of macOS, and as such cannot be deleted from your computer. Full stop.
You don't have to use it. You may have to spy it from time to time.
That's a shame. Get over it. You can't delete it. No one is forcing you to use it. If AI is truly offensive to you, then you may as well dump all of your tech now. It's unavoidable.
