Is there any way to use natural scrolling for trackpad and not for mouse wheel? I had having to toggle it whenever I switch between using a mouse or touchpad. Do I really need a third party app?

macOS still uses one scrolling-direction setting for both the built-in trackpad and a mouse, so there isn’t a separate Apple setting for each device.
If you want natural scrolling on the trackpad but standard scrolling on the mouse wheel, you’ll need a third-party utility that can reverse scrolling per device.
I’d avoid anything that asks for broader permissions than it actually needs, but otherwise that’s the practical way to do it right now.

all the apps I can find require the permission to "control the computer" is that too broad? can you recommend any?
