Reorganize iTunes music folder on Windows 11 without losing playlists

I have an issue with reorganizing and consolidating my itunes music folder. I am working on a Windows 11 Pro build 26200 with iTunes 12.13.10.3. I am bit OCD and like to keep things very organized at the file and directory level. I have my music in a folder C:/WORK MUSIC. At some point the directory got changed to C:/WORK MUSIC/Music. So a large portion of my music sits in the second level sub dir. I am trying to find a mechanism to move all the "C:/WORK MUSIC/Music" up into the parent C:/WORK MUSIC with losing any of my playlists. I have tried various permutation of ORGANIZE and CONSOLIDATE to no avail. Does anyone have suggestions or avenues I should try. Thanks

I’d be careful about moving those folders manually in File Explorer. That’s the easiest way to make iTunes lose track of the files, even though your playlists themselves are stored in the iTunes library database.

The important part is that iTunes can intentionally place music inside a Music subfolder when Keep iTunes Media folder organized is enabled. So if your media folder is set to C:\WORK MUSIC, iTunes may still organize music under C:\WORK MUSIC\Music\Artist\Album. Change Advanced preferences in iTunes on PC - Apple Support

If your goal is simply to have everything managed consistently, I’d leave that structure alone and use File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate files. Apple notes that consolidation copies library files into the designated iTunes Media folder while keeping the library references intact. Move your iTunes library to another computer - Apple Support

If you specifically want to eliminate the Music level and have artist folders directly under C:\WORK MUSIC, iTunes’ automatic organization isn’t really designed for that layout. I’d make a full backup of the iTunes library and media before attempting any manual restructuring.
