For the U.S. Apple Education Store, retired teachers aren’t listed as eligible. Apple’s current terms cover current K–12 employees, current higher-education faculty/staff, eligible students and parents, plus homeschool teachers.

So if you’re fully retired and no longer employed by a school, I wouldn’t expect the education discount to apply.

Apple’s Education Store also now requires eligibility verification through UNiDAYS at checkout.

I cannot believe this reflects Apple's view of retired teachers as much as it is a shortcoming in the UNIDaYS verification process. Volunteer faculty fall into this category, as well.

At the university level, at least in their Professional degree schools, colleges and programs, the university could not function without the benefit of having retired and volunteer faculty serving in the many critical roles they perform. Teaching, mentoring, advising, etc., etc., etc. These schools simply do not have enough paid faculty to do it all alone.

The role of the retired and voluntary faculty is critically important to the day-to-day operations of the program as well as to the students' success.

Surely Apple recognizes, appreciates and values this bona-fide faculty service. IMO, Apple simply needs to work with UNIDaYS to figure out a way to assure the UNIDaYS verification process captures it. For example, a "dot edu" email address should suffice. In modern day universities with even a standard amount of IT support, the "dot edu" email addresses are carefully monitored and are shut down almost immediately when someone is no longer performing a needed service to the university. They are reviewed with great regularity to assure they are up-to-date.

If you have encountered some difficulty with this I recommend you either contact Apple Support, submit feedback..... or both.

Good luck, please keep us posted.
