Using HomePod for to help elderly parent?

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts on using the HomePod for helping an elderly parent remember to do things like take pills. I could set up reminders on her phone after all so are there benefits to using the HomePod instead? Nothing in her apartment is "smart" and she doesn't listen to music... It looks like I can set it up so that Siri would recognize my voice as well as hers (?). It also looks like I wouldn't need a subscription to anything - unlike Alexa. Any guidance would help.
