cannot find airtag on my phone
why does my airtag appear on the find my
app on my watch , but not on my phone or in my apple account?

If the AirTag shows on your Apple Watch but not on the iPhone, I’d first make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account.
On the iPhone, open Find My and tap Items — AirTags don’t appear under Devices. Apple also notes that AirTags aren’t shown in the regular Apple Account device list the same way an iPhone or Mac is; you manage them through Find My.
If it’s definitely missing from Find My > Items on the iPhone but still appears in Find Items on the Watch, restart both devices and make sure the iPhone is up to date.
I wouldn’t remove or reset the AirTag yet, since doing that can break its association with your Apple Account.
