Apple Homepods are waking me up with loud country music and turning down TV volume

Yes, ours did this too. Consensus seems to be that the touch panel degrades over time (typically 2 years, as in our case) and it results in these exact issues. Apple continue to deny that they're aware of the issue - which seems unbelievable, given the sheer number of customers affected - but after persistent calls to Apple Support they did eventually agree to replace both of my affected HomePods. So I guess I've got another 2 years before I need to replace them (the replacements will not be Apple products).

from what others that experience the issue it seems to be a defect touch panel on the top of the homepod which creates "ghost" touch that starts the homepod periodicly

it's rather doubtful there will ever be a software or configuration fix for it

maybe focus on the last post just made where a user says it was a fix for them to use the

"-> go to Accessibility -> turn on Touch Accommodations -> within Touch Accommodations turn on Hold Duration and increase it to 3 or 3+ seconds "

Just to add: from my own experience, the Touch Accommodations "fix" may improve the issue (or temporarily reduce the number of occurrences) but it doesn't resolve it.

The only "solution" is to a) disconnect the touch panel, but of course then the HomePods are no longer fully functional (touch interaction doesn't work at all) or b) replace the affected HomePods either by hounding Apple until they send you new ones or throwing them away and replacing them with non-Apple alternatives.

Not an issue for everyone though, my homepod mini has no problem, and it's 5 years old. It's in the bathroom
