Iphone and 17e HDMI cord to TV

If it really is an HDMI lightning adapter, then I have no idea how you are actually connecting it to the iPhone 17e since it does not actually have a lightning port. It has a USB-C port and as such requires a USB-C to HDMI adapter.

Assuming that you are actually talking about a USB-C to HDMI adapter, here is why wired video output won't work. Apple reserves the best USB-C ports for the most expensive iPhones. You only get USB 3 transfers on Pro models.

On your iPhone 17e, there isn't even any support for DisplayPort Alt Mode. From its Technical Specifications:

That means that there is no video signal for a USB-C to HDMI adapter to convert, and feed to your monitor or HDTV. Apple left off support for wired video output as a cost-saving measure, or as an "encouragement" for people to buy the regular model instead of the budget model, or both.

If you want to send video from your iPhone 17e to a TV, you will need to use AirPlay.

That adapter won't help someone who has an iPhone 16e or 17e. Both lack DisplayPort Alt Mode support.

Apple's description of the adapter fails to draw attention to this fact.

Hopefully you didn’t use too much force attempting to “make” a lightning connector “fit” into your iPhone 17e. 🫣

(Older iPhones and iPads did indeed both use Lightning connectors)
