I use a MacBook Pro M5 to teach a ZOOM Bible class and I record the teaching on GarageBand. I am having a problem with the recording. When I sign into ZOOM for my session they ask if they can use my mic. If I say yes, the mic on GarageBand disconnects and my recording doesn't work. If I say no, the folks on zoom cannot hear me. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Zoom and GarageBand should both be able to use the microphone, so I’d first check the macOS permissions.
Quit both apps, then go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and make sure both Zoom and GarageBand are enabled. Apple recommends enabling microphone access separately for every app that needs the audio input.
Then open GarageBand and check GarageBand > Settings > Audio/MIDI to make sure the correct microphone is still selected as the Input Device. If you see Mic Mode in the menu bar, set GarageBand to Standard as well.
If it still disconnects as soon as Zoom joins the meeting, are you using the MacBook’s built-in microphone or an external USB/audio-interface microphone? That would help narrow it down.

Thanks this sounds like it will solve the problem. I'll have to get someone to show me how to add ZOOM to the microphone setting. Will let you know if it worked.
